2009 Maine Preservation Award
Ellen Angel of AMES A/E was given the Community Revitalization Award for her work on the Bangor Opera House. The Bangor Opera house in downtown Bangor is adjacent to the AMES A/E office so this project was particularly enjoyable for the team at AMES A/E.

Bangor Fire Station #6 Earns LEED Gold
In 2007 the city of Bangor became the first municipality in Maine to require LEED certification for all municipal projects. AMES A/E and the design team went above and beyond to achieve the distinguished Gold Rating, which makes Bangor Fire Station #6 the first and only LEED Fire Station in the State.
The design team was lead by Architect Ellen Angel of AMES A/E and included representatives from Bangor Fire Department, AMES A/E, Hewett & Whitney Engineers, Barr & Barr Inc., and Context Green, whom were all active from inception through occupancy.

AMES A/E Celebrates 35 Years
On Friday, November 20th, the AMES team along with many clients, family, and friends celebrated over 35 years of service. AMES A/E was founded in 1974 by Brian Ames and has worked on countless projects throughout the years. Brian was happy to share this milestone with everyone Friday night with food, drinks, and pumpkin cake! Door prizes were given out to a few lucky guests, and as a thank you the professionals at AMES presented Brian with a gift, for all his hard work and dedication.
AMES A/E Featured in Fire Chief Magazine
The November 2009 edition of Fire Chief Magazine included the Station Style Design Awards. Bangor Fire Station No. 6 earned the title of “Notable Satellite Station”. A full project description and photos are included within the magazine.

Ames achieves LEED accreditation
AMES A/E is pleased to announce that Brian Ames has become an LEED Accredited Professional. His accreditation, combined with our design of Bangor’s first LEED registered building, positions AMES A/E to continue its tradition of incorporating green principles into their projects in this era of heightened sustainable awareness.
Brian is currently Senior Principal for the company overseeing the Building Services Division. His 35 years of building and land development experience is the solid foundation for his expertise as an Owner’s Representative on development projects and as a source of practical and rationale information when planning a project.
